The Rivership Barbara-Lee is an authentic sternwheeler that sails the St. Johns River. The ship measures 105 feet from stem to stern and was built in 1986, refurbished in 2012 for its inaugural St. Johns River cruise. Featuring ornate wrought iron railings and wooden paddle wheels, the Barbara-Lee exudes the elegance of historical steamers on the St. Johns River. Daniel R. Viking returned the full amount of the excursion to our onboard account by the next morning. You will have to look long and hard to find a cruise line more fair than that. This is one of the things that keeps us spending what travel funds we have with Viking. We did the included excursion and had a hopeless guide, so our review would not have been favourable. The ship has five decks and can accommodate up to 194 guests, making it suitable for hosting events of varying sizes. While I was very happy with the quality of the Viking Tour guides - they both were excellent, - the larges coaches that Viking uses are just unable to deal with the massive amount of traffic in STP. We spent almost 2x the amount of time more time on the bus sitting than touring the various sites. I had spent several weeks in STP years earlier on business, bit if this has been my first - or only time in STP...
If lightning is reported within 5 miles of the launch area, your tour guide will postpone or cancel the trip, depending on weather reports. If the trip is cancelled by Blue Spring Adventures for any reason (including weather), a full refund will be issued. If lighting is not detected, but the guest decides to postpone, the trip will be re-booked to a later time. We are located at the docks at the end of the main park road (lower parking lot).

It's well worth the $$$ in to use the private tours with the small vans or mini busses... General Henry S. Sanford purchased land on Lake Monroe, creating a river port city that eventually became the City of Sanford. By the late 19th century, approximately 150 steamships operated on the St. Johns River, carrying significant freight and passengers.
It is important to arrive early to the Park, as it regularly reaches capacity. If the park has stopped admitting vehicles, present your tour confirmation info to an available ranger for entry. East Coast Bistro– located a 5 minute walk from the port, this popular spot makes everything in-house using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Britt’s Pub & Eatery – also along Princess Street, about a 3 minute walk from the port, you can enjoy a drink from the bar in this energetic eatery offering pub-type food.
